Hyde Park Historic Homes Tour

Hyde Park historic homes tour has always been a favorite Austin event for me. I haven’t done it in years, and I think this is the year to dust off the camera and get some great pictures and great stories of some of Austin’s most gorgeous and interesting homes!

The Annual tour this year will be on Father’s Day weekend – June 19 & 20th. Make sure you purchase your tickets – they are $15 dollars in advance and $17 the day of. Children under 10 are admitted for free and seniors get a discount. You may purchase them at Fresh Plus Grocery (408 East 43rd St) or pay online using your PayPal, Visa etc. http://hydeparkhomestour.org/tickets.htm.

This year some interesting homes are on the tour, what is now the Austin State Hospital and a very modern conversion on Avenue H. I have to admit, its a REALTORS love of homes and its curiosity to see what’s behind those doors that drives me. Though Avenue H home has so much glass I’ve seen half of what’s in that house just walking by….public advantage to contemporary architecture right?

The historic homes tour is sponsored by Hyde Park Neighborhood Association. Hyde Park’s beauty and preservation is due in large part to this organization that has set forth a mission since the 1970’s to make sure this fantastic central Austin neighborhood is taken care of and its history is kept in tact.
